Hi guys, my name is Alani Ryan. I’ve blogged before but this format is a strange new world for me. A little bit about myself, I was born in New Zealand, raised in Hawaii where I have lived most of my life, was gonna be a professional surfer then -- Surprise! I’m a mutant! I’m an MRA (Mutants Rights Activist, not that other MRA) and I’m doing my best. I consume too much coffee and at this point I’m pretty sure I need it to live. I have a collection of cool mugs which hold the coffee that has replaced my life blood. I like Brooklyn Nine Nine and I am under the firm belief that ice cream is the best thing to happen to this planet.

Oh, actual question, actually. What kind of art, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, I mean, I guess I specialize in drawing and painting, but I kinda do a little bit of everything. I was trained as an art therapist :)

Anything in particular you like to do? The boathouse is really my unofficial studio, so if you ever wanna come check it out, feel free! Mi casa es su casa and all!

Hello, Darcy, nice to meet you! I’m intrigued by these gold stars and baked goods. How well do I have to take care of myself to acquire both?

Gold stars require doing basics like eating, hydrating with something that isn't just soda/coffee/espresso shots/alcohol, not blowing up the lab, not leaving lab specimens in a place where unsuspecting interns might drink themlabeling experiments appropriately, sleeping, etc.

Baking is more "Darcy is full of stress and the cat doesn't want to cuddle so she's stress baking come eat." Which is... a lot, lately.

Absolutely, she's very friendly and would probably do a sit and purr if you are still long enough. :) Just don't touch her belly. It's a trap full of claws and teeth.

I'm a... what did Doc Richards call it... an "electromagnetic conductor", which is science talk for "my mutation lets me tune into certain parts of the EM spectrum and turn into light or x-rays and stuff". If it doesn't bother you to talk about, what is it you can do? Besides surf and public speak and generally be awesome?
