Hi guys, my name is Alani Ryan. I’ve blogged before but this format is a strange new world for me. A little bit about myself, I was born in New Zealand, raised in Hawaii where I have lived most of my life, was gonna be a professional surfer then -- Surprise! I’m a mutant! I’m an MRA (Mutants Rights Activist, not that other MRA) and I’m doing my best. I consume too much coffee and at this point I’m pretty sure I need it to live. I have a collection of cool mugs which hold the coffee that has replaced my life blood. I like Brooklyn Nine Nine and I am under the firm belief that ice cream is the best thing to happen to this planet.

Hey, I remember you from a streamed vid of one of the protests you spoke at! Welcome to Xavier's! I'm Monica, Nica for short, and I'm a freshman at NYU. I'm a... what did Doc Richards call it... an "electromagnetic conductor", which is science talk for "my mutation lets me tune into certain parts of the EM spectrum and turn into light or x-rays and stuff". If it doesn't bother you to talk about, what is it you can do? Besides surf and public speak and generally be awesome?

Well I hope you liked it! Or at least are willing to tell me if you didn't like it and why. Thank you for the welcome, Nica. That's so cool! Would you mind showing me some time? Doesn't bother me at all, but I don't exactly have a science explanation.

I say I wreck things, because it's what I know, if that makes sense. I can go through things, but they fall apart afterwards. And I glow when it happens. That's what you were asking right? Sorry. I can also catch M&Ms in my mouth very well, but it's nothing to write home about.
